The PS3 and XBOX 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto Online are set to shut down later this year, as Rockstar announced earlier today in a tweet.

Rockstar will be launching the enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 11. Therefore, as a sensible move to keep providing quality support and updates on the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions, and to work on the enhanced version, Rockstar is discontinuing support for the 7th generation of consoles.

Shark Cash Cards for GTA Online will no longer be sold for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions after September 15, 2021.

But Rockstar has confirmed that all these updates will have no effects on the progress or achievements within the Grand Theft Auto V Story Mode.

Not only Grand Theft Auto V, but Rockstar is also ending website stat tracking for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3, including multiplayer and leaderboards for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Max Payne 3. But the achievements and progress in the story mode of these games will remain unaffected.

Previously it was discovered that Rockstar Games is ramping up the staff in its India studio. Rockstar India's careers listings show around 40 job openings. The listing was spotted on Rockstar India's careers page by business analyst Roberto Serrano on Twitter. The Indian studio is primarily responsible for support on games like Red Dead Redemption 2, and older games like L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3.

Does that mean the Indian Studio will start working on another upcoming title?

With the arrival of PlayStation 5, PS3 had already become an obsolete generation. So, this is a sensible move from Rockstar to save their resources and keep making the 8th and 9th generation consoles and the PC experience better and more enjoyable.
