Steam is undoubtedly the largest PC game store out there. With its versatility and wide collection of PC games from all genres, Steam is unbeaten, at least till now. Although gamers didn't have major problems with the existing Steam UI and features, Steam seems to have come up with features that we didn't know we wanted.

While the new features aren't overwhelming, it does make using that app for managing storage space and downloads easier. The old Steam downloads page was not interesting. It did look something out of 2010. It had the potential to be updated, and Valve did justice to this.

The old Steam downloads page

The latest update sees a complete redesign of this downloads page that makes it look much more contemporary. Along with the already existing things, it also shows the amount of data left to be downloaded along with the amount of uncompressed disk space your particle game/software has to occupy after downloading, in real-time. Along with a percentage progress bar, Steam downloads haven't looked cooler before.

Also, the new downloads page isn't the only update. Steam also has added a new storage page that makes the management of downloaded games extremely easy. It can show the status of several SSDs and HDDs bundled together in a single page, and easily lets you move or uninstall games. This is a huge leap from the old style of management, which involved scrambling a big list and then using your brainpower to free up space.

You can access the storage page by heading over to Settings>Downloads>Steam Library Folders.

These changes had appeared in the Steam Beta a few months ago. Finally, we have a public release. And I am pretty sure users are going to love it.

The update installs automatically when you fire up Steam, but in case it doesn't, you can force the launcher to update through "Check for Steam Client Updates" in the app's main menu.

With Steam Deck upcoming this year, Steam will indeed undergo a lot of changes, even on the Steam Client software. So, it's going to be interesting to watch where we end up before the end of the year!
