Zoom agrees to pay $85 million to end the Zoombombing Lawsuit

Zoom has become one of the best platform especially after covid 19 period. Now this platform is widely used for communications. There are millions of people who shifted from to zoom for their online works.
Although zoom is quite popular, it's also known for zoombombing. Zoombombing is when a person or a group of people invading the meeting without their permission. Because of this people started criticizing zoom and some even shifted to other platforms.
Credits- CyberHoot So the company faced multiple lawsuits for these security lapses and because of this they've agreed to pay $85 million to settle the lawsuit. The following settlement was filed recently and requires the approval of the US District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose, California. Judge Koh reportedly said that Zoom was mostly known for Zoombombing under Section 230 of the Federal Communications Decency Act, which prevents authorities to hold social and communication companies responsible for user acts on their platforms.
Credits- Reuters Also As part of the settlement, everyone who subscribed to zoom will be eligible to receive a refund of either 15% or $25. On the other hand, free users will receive up to $15, given the lawsuit achieves the proposed class-action status. Also zoom has agreed to improve the user privacy and security measures.The company said that user privacy has been one of the top priorities for its team. "The privacy and security of our users are top priorities for Zoom, and we take seriously the trust our users place in us" the company said.
